Tips to Hosting a Successful  Mahjong Private Instruction

Hostess Guidance and Responsibilities:

Depending on the number of guests you have, you may need several tables. Square card sized tables are ideal, but we can always make it work with round rectangular dining tables. You will need chairs for all of your guests.

6-8 participants ……. 2 tables

9-12 participants…….3 tables

13-16 participants……4 tables

17-20 participants….5 tables

21-24 participants….6 tables

Table cloths are a great addition over card tables and side drink tables are helpful but not necessary.

If you would like any of the set up provided for you we can make those arrangements.

I do not recommend serving a meal during instruction as the tables will be set with tiles and materials and it is difficult to eat and play. You may choose to serve a meal before or after the instruction. Finger foods or snacks are good to have for your guests close by to their seats and tables. Serving beverages is perfectly acceptable and nice for your guests.

I do utilize a presentation slides during instruction. This is great for visual guidance and as a supplement to the curriculum. If possible, this is best done thru screen mirroring to your TV from my device.

Instructor Responsibilities:

I will provide the materials for learning and game play:

Tiles

Mats

Pushers and Racks

Dice

NMJL Cards

HOM Playbook and House Rules Guide

Presentation instruction slides presented on your tv or as handouts

I will arrive 30 minutes early to set up the tables for instruction. I will pack up all materials at the end of the night.

Please let me know what questions you have or additions you would like to request.

Live, learn, play!
